I believe the reason for all these pipelines and power-lines coming forward now (Standing Rock, Pinon Pipeline at Chaco Canyon, and Verde Power-line near Black Mesa) is because the early Trump infrastructure plan for $1 trillion was to fund these types of deals.  Yet, are they even needed?  These deals are the worse and may leave government holding the bag as coal and oil become more obsolete as alternative energy is produced.   Maybe these are government bailouts for these fossil fuel behemoths.  The only one owning the lines will be the Trump-funded lines as private investors are bought out in a bad “long-term” investment.  It is clear that our energy uses are shifting away from oil and coal as conservation and other sources come into play.

I don’t have Naomi Klein’s book Disaster Capitalism so I don’t know if fracking and pipelines are covered in it.  But her premise  is not really to finish a product or speculative investment but to let many new investors get in, then go bankrupt and take all the investors money by having secretly spend it with other “associates”, so by the time it is in bankruptcy court there is literally nothing left and no accountability.  So applying this to  pipelines and power-lines: a line or a well is put out in the marketplace and many investors are let in, then at the optimum point the corporation goes bankrupt and take all the investors money.  Trump himself seems to have done this in all his ventures.  So maybe we are moving into a new era of business “ethics.”  Certainly the movie the Big Short spells this out where Wall Street: bet against bets against bets against the housing market (mortgages) in the derivatives market.

Going hand-in-hand with this ‘sell-it-off movement‘ is a Republican Congressional plan to privatize Native American lands by allowing them to come out from the federal Trust status and into the marketplace for sale to the highest bidder.  It is thought there is a lot of “untapped” energy under these lands that environmental conscious Native Americans are unwilling to ‘rape and pillage’ (is there really any other term for it?).

There is a separate plan to put all federal public lands up for the auction block to the highest bidder or turn over to the states which are also strapped to administer them. Pretty sad times except for the 1% and the American Nazi’s.

The Quivira Coalition is quite worried about the public lands giveaway, because not that the BLM and U.S. Forest Service have done excellent and “flawless” jobs in administering these lands, but the states are woefully unprepared and underfunded to take on the extra land and would most likely have to sell a big chunk to fund operations: https://www.facebook.com/QuiviraCoalition/posts/10209167274873622.  This is of course what Republicans are “BANKING ON.”  The Quivira Coalition arose as a sensible approach to the 1970’s Sagebrush Rebellion and Reagan’s Interior Secretary James G. Watt.

People might say this can’t happen, but when one political party (the Republicans) controls the Presidency, House, Senate, Supreme Court and lower courts, media, Wall Street, religion, states, local government, billionaires, voting system, etc.—there is literally no one in power to STOP it.  No checks and balances like the Founding Fathers envisioned.  Eventually, as the feeding frenzy subsides and those that didn’t get any or enough of a fill will complain then some action might be taken in a few years.

This is scary and may be the way we achieve the literal destruction of our country: Republicans say now that we have all the power let’s rewrite the Constitution: http://www.cnn.com/2016/11/22/politics/constitutional-convention-explainer/index.html.  This is probably the only way to make abortion “illegal”, get rid of immigrant children’s birth rights under the 14th Amendment, remove government’s ability to pay for welfare, outlaw social security and medicare, repeal all FDR and LBJ (Democratic Party) programs, give away all public lands, privatize pensions, what else?  That’s right what other damage can they do to us in order to fulfill their greed?

Become a FaceBook friend of former N.M. State Land Commissioner Ray Powell because he is posting a lot of the public land give aways articles.  This all may be talk right now and blowhard chatter after an election win (hopefully).  But it is dangerous talk that is unprecedented in this nation. “Everything is for sale to the highest bidder” Goldwater, Nixon, Teddy Roosevelt, Lincoln, even Bush, the elder,—none of these Republicans talked that way—they were “Conservationists” in their day.  Notice I didn’t include Reagan because he allowed a lot of this movement to begin under him; and G.W. Bush couldn’t control it anymore.

Sad times in our once mighty nation slipping into plutocracy, and now Kakistocracy (https://williamhenrymee.wordpress.com/2016/12/02/his-challenge-ahead/#comment-567).

I tried to find you all some citations but only came up with this: https://williamhenrymee.wordpress.com/2016/11/05/climate-change-notes/#comment-570.  There are a number of good Climate Change sites I belong to and this one for New Mexico: https://www.facebook.com/groups/StopFrackingtheRio/.
