As we go forward and our 2017 leadership tries to undo everything society has done the last 240 years, we will slide backwards. Maybe so far backwards that the people who it hurts the most, those angry Trump voters, will demand a liberal take charge to move the Nation forward again.
John K.’s friend says:
“Here is as concise a summary of the predicament of Democracy In America today as I have read. The author seems to be a right-winger or some sort of anarcho-libertarian bomb-thrower. The tone is that of a gloat:
“1. You don’t have congress.
“2. You don’t have the senate.
“3. You don’t have the presidency.
“4. You don’t have the Supreme Court and will lose most of the lesser courts.
“5. The GOP now controls the most legislative seats it has held since the founding of the party.
“6. Lose control of one more state and you can’t stop amendments to the Constitution. This situation is likely to continue for 8-25 years.
“7. In that time you will lose academe and the control of the schools. Vouchers and school choice coming right up.”
There it is, pretty baldly stated. That is the situation.
One can almost hear the “NANNY-POO, NANNY-POO.””
What we are forgetting also is that the list can be expanded to:
8. Monetary Policy control and banking.
9. Billionaire classlessness.
10. MSM. The Fourth Estate, the Press, is fairly conservative with ABC, CBS and NBC using Fox News stories for leads. Most reporters are closely trained liberals but they must work in the MSM (and remain silent). Associated Press on last legs and UPI gone. Then all this fake news stuff like Breitbart, Gateway Pundit, etc.
11. Military–they are just enamored by the White Supremacist views of Trump and are glad to get rid of the “Muslim monkey Obama” (I was shocked that our military was so close to open revolt).
12. White Supremacists, Nazi’s, KKK, Alt-Right and Pepe the Frog.
13. Anti-Minority and anti-immigrant crowd beyond the #12 above. Those blaming the “others” for taking their jobs.
14. We are losing the 3,133 county and 9,990 municipal governments to Right-Wing wackos who want to privatize and line their pockets with contracts. Sometimes state officials bend when enough cities and counties jump on them.
15. State and local School Boards are big targets of religious groups that want religion taught in the schools and birth control stopped. Once the school board is controlled big money goes out for textbooks. The Texas textbooks are the model for the nation and the religious nuts there want the science books to say the Earth is 6,000 years old and Jesus rode dinosaurs.
The only hope we have is this diverse group of wackos should hold each other in check. We are under a Republican dictatorship; freely chosen by 25.7 % of the country. Truly a sad day in this Nation’s history. Maybe some Karma for Standing Rock.
Add to it the destruction of regulations (the Heritage Foundation has identified 1,000 to be taken out in the first 100 days), especially environmental, and the country slides into a unknown but destructive free-for-all abyss.
This week of November 13th, 2016, has seen some disappointing selections of bigots, adulterers, and general idiots for the Trump Presidential Cabinet; and has not lent confidence or assurance to the Nation.
Then on these FaceBook posts there was almost a consensus of: “there is unlikely to be a 2020 election.” Others asked: “how is this possible?”
To which I responded: Or at least in that so much disenfranchisement will happen. Supposedly rated at 7 million in 2016 (Greg Palast reports); 13 million disenfranchised from 2000 to 2012. All that is needed is probably a 10-20 million disenfranchisement of minority voters in 2020 and you can have the election with a preordained result. Most Red state laws already are in place (they control 35 Secretaries of State). The small rollback by the Supreme Court can be reversed in January 2017.
Judith SB says:
“The Republicans are celebrating now, but it’s going to be a very, very tough road for them. They don’t have a supermajority in the Senate and Chuck Schumer will be able to veto most of Trump’s agenda. And repealing the ACA is going to be impossible. The healthcare industry is 1/6 of the U.S. economy. Give me a break. And the REAL nightmare for the Republicans will happen in 2018 when the entire House is up for reelection along with a third of the Senate. Think they’re shitting in their pants? You bet, since they will not have delivered much of anything at that point. All those people in the Rust Belt are waiting for Trump to give them their jobs back in coal, when it’s shale gas that has swamped coal.”
To which I add:
Also Natural Gas in general. The whole thing also is robots are replacing many of those high paying foreman jobs overseeing conveyor belts moving coal. Plus most heavy equipment is all electronically controlled and you get a smart card to run the whole thing. The ability to be a mechanic and wrench on something is gone, many old drivers refuse to learn the electronics (fear and frankly illiteracy can actually prevent them).
Our new POTUS-elect. But the crazy thing is people did not stand up to his extreme racist-rapist-idiotic views. When asked outside Trump events they made apologies for the candidates and said you have to take this with a grain of salt. It was all Mussolini’s slogan: Make Italy Great Again–this trumped all reptilian-thought processes. The more powerful people (billionaires) have Trump as their puppet. There is no hope for you and I, just a hidden form of total slavery to these masters (Numbers 1-15 above). Resistance.
I was in a movement in 2001 (because of Florida 2000) to do an apportionment of the Electoral College (EC) based on who won each Congressional District (Like Nebraska and Maine do now). So of NM’s 5 EC votes 2 would go to outright winner and 1 per winner of Congressional District. So basically we would always give Repubs 1 vote. But the Repubs in Legislature didn’t accept it and I guess it is better for a Blue state. At the time professional lobbyists told us changing it all was too heavy of a lift and we had to wait until 35 states went apportionment. The EC may be the only way Repubs can every win again.
Having gone through Florida 2000, I agree with the “Not My President” movement of 2016. We did something similar in 2001. I agree with others that it is unpatriotic and doesn’t solve anything but I don’t know what else we can do. None of the other movements (ask EC to change votes, walkouts, strikes, etc.) stand any chance and maybe seeing people that oppose him (and can’t be “fired”) will make him think of working towards compromise. I just remember his very stunned look when with Obama in the White House.

Republicans say now that we have all the power let’s rewrite the Constitution: http://www.cnn.com/2016/11/22/politics/constitutional-convention-explainer/index.html
This is probably the only way to make abortion “illegal”, get rid of immigrant children’s birth rights under the 14th Amendment, remove government’s ability to pay for welfare, outlaw social security and repeal all FDR and LBJ programs, give away all public lands, what else?
Republicans say the media is biased. There is a biased media. Conservative wise. Although the individual reporters are classically trained liberal journalists—the networks are owned by five mega corporations which kill stories that interfere with profits. Abc, CBS and NBC are all now using Fox News stories because it is too expensive to do investigative journalism. The AP is on its last legs and the UPI is dead. You only hear on NBC what GE wants you to hear….more war ist guut for der nation! Just as Trump said the election is rigged before it happened. Notice he didn’t say for who….

What what was so good about 11-8-2016? In fact, the whole Trump campaign “Make America Great Again” was based on a negative message of everything was broken and a guy from the financial class that that broke it could fix it; if that doesn’t meet Einstein’s definition of insanity, nothing does.
Trump: allegations of rape, 3,500 lawsuits against him, 75 pending, $340 million received from father since 1999, bully, racist; there are no redeeming or PRESIDENTIAL qualities. More trickle down economics, trade wars, climate deniers, pollution, and guns for all. I have analyzed this a million times and don’t understand the support for the GOP.
It may be smart for DNC to get a few donors and fund Jill Stein’s challenge. This Trump squad and the Russians are not ones to fool with. Everything about HRC has a potential to turn off a popular movement. I heard Bernie on most of the Sunday talk shows defending Hillary’s position. I think it is smart for Jill to pursue this because although she got only 1% in most states her 50,000 votes mattered in states like Mi, Wi, MN where some of the Trump margins were only 10,000. This can cast light on Greg Palast’s 7 million votes in 2016 that were eliminated from the rolls by GOP Secretary of State’s and were disenfranchised on election day. Not sure how the counting of provisional ballots is going. If these 7 million came forward on election day they by law get a provisional ballot. But if James Brown from the Black neighborhood was a convicted felon in Wisconsin about twenty James Browns from the Black neighborhoods (wards) were removed according to Greg.

James says: “Can you imagine, if the media actually had to cover the “left” and had put him on air, showed the incredible excitement at his rallies on television, and had given him treatment equal to Trump’s? He’d be our president now.
Most of us found our way to him, through the Internet, which is why they keep pushing this “fake news” stuff. They feel they’re losing the grip on the right-wing propaganda, so they’ve got to say “It’s all fake news” on the Internet. They’re trying to reassert their control.
It is an opportunity lost, and I think maybe a few of those Hillary shills are probably realizing that, about now.”
https://www.democracynow.org/2016/11/29/bernie_sanders_i_was_stunned_by
AND James continues:
“AMY GOODMAN: March 15th, Super Tuesday III, was the night when Rubio gave his speech, and Ted Cruz gave his speech, Clinton gave her speech, and Donald Trump, they waited for half an hour for him to give his speech and showed the open podium, as they often did. They showed more of the open podium waiting for Donald Trump than ever playing your speeches. That’s what—those were all the candidates that night. And they played all their full speeches. They did not play one word of your speech. You were speaking in Phoenix, Arizona, to the largest rally of any of those people that night. They didn’t even speculate where you were.
SEN. BERNIE SANDERS: I wish I could disagree with you. No, no, no, Amy is raising a very—and we go into it in the book. I was stunned. I mean, you know, in the middle of the campaign, you’re not figuring out this stuff or thinking about it. Turns out that from January 1st, 2015, I think, through November 2015, ABC Evening News had us on for 20 seconds.”
And this post by James:
“The really sad thing about our mainstream corporate media spreading this stuff about “fake news” is, I think their intention is sinister, in that they don’t just want to say stories were certifiably false. They want to push this idea that opposition opinions to some of their most set propaganda, is also “fake news.” It is essentially the media that sees itself as the propaganda organ, the one that shapes American opinion, fighting to maintain control. It wants to keep the war without end, the corporations deregulation, corporations paying less taxes, not increasing taxes on the rich, and all the rest of the most right-wing agenda. Anything else, they try to scare people off of, thus the idea of “fake news.”
Were certain stories certifiably false, like Michael Moore endorsing Trump, when he just fearfully predicted Trump “might” win? Yes. Does that mean a dissenting opinion was fake? Hell no. Just take care to know the difference.”

The amazing thing is that Trump dissed the media while taking $3-4 billion in free coverage. He totally turned his people away from the Main Stream Media and threw out the old meme of Liberal MSM, and did secret social media communications of Pepe the Frog and Draining the Swamp and MAGA supporters, and White supremacists, etc. Hiding his support. I believe people who took surveys were ashamed to admit support for Trump (I would be). All of these actions were necessary for the “win.” MSM is very conservative because the big corporations pay the bills with ADS and other Corp like GE own NBC and Disney owns ABC, etc. So MSM were completely played for fools by one of their own corporate elite (Trump).

My friend James says: It’s been pretty clear for quite a while, that Republicans in particular, aren’t really interested in people being educated. Like Carlin says in his comedy routine, they want us just smart enough to do our jobs, and not much more than that, because then we might be able to see through their crap.
All she’s going to do is try to continue disassembling public education, and privatize it, lowering pay of workers who keep the school running, cutting benefits, and taking money from the government to run them. The majority of that money will, like privatized prisons, go to a few people at the top. Your kids will suffer.
Like so many other horrible things, Reagan started all of this, while he was governor of California, famously quipping “Why do I want to educate people who’ll vote against me at some point?” I’d say “asked and answered,” but I’m sure that isn’t the way he meant it.

From Larry:
The Republicans, who have just gained complete control of our country (unless the current court with the addition of whichever right wing justice that they appoint still has the decency to rule in favor of the Constitution instead of being activists for right wing issues, and the Democrats in the Senate are willing to stand fast and block right wing legislation), want to:
1. Privatize Social Security.
2. Privatize Medicare.
3. Privatize the VA.
4. Turn Medicaid into block grants to states.
5. Repeal the ACA. They say replace but have given no plan.
6. Rescind the small openings we have made to Cuba.
7. Rescind the Nuclear deal we made with Iran.
8. Build a wall on our border with Mexico.
It looks like four rough, nasty years ahead of us.
–What i want to do is build a list here….
So I posted this to my County Party page:
Hello fellow Democrats! It is a pretty dismal state we are in nationally. But I think we all need to become EDUCATED about politics, over government and the economy. Because the other side’s voters aren’t and we need to EDUCATE them and convert them. But first educate ourselves so we can teach. Apparently, Trump’s economic plan is just as every other Republican’s, run up the national debt and blame the Democratic Party—it is called the “Two Santa Claus Theory.” Please learn about it—because these people are PURE EVIL (not worthy of anyone’s vote). I have a WordPress site that I have been posting things and this is a sample:
and this:
So now I am looking for a way forward. I remember when Gov. Gary Johnson though the State Personal Office made it illegal to be a state employee and be a member of the Demo Party—clearly unconstitutional—-but the case took more than a year to litigate. So organizing quickly is essential before we are “outlawed.”
But Bernie Sanders made an appeal to voters without media support and did wonders in social media and grassroots. If he had 3-4 months more of Primary he would have won despite HRC’s being owed the nomination since 2008. Maybe an updated “Teach In” from the Hippie days would also work.
Donald Trump has just named his pick for Treasury secretary: ex-Goldman Sachs banker and notorious foreclosure king Steve Mnuchin.
That’s right. The guy who ran for office promising to “drain the swamp” is putting the living embodiment of Wall Street corruption in charge of his economic policy.
This pick basically translates to Trump giving the middle finger to his working-class voters.
We’re launching a major campaign to make sure the American people know what a massive betrayal this is—and demand that Senate Democrats fight back.
Will you chip in $5 to call out Trump’s “drain the swamp” lies and stop Steve Mnuchin?
Mnuchin was Trump’s top fundraiser, and his record is so corrupt, it’s unbelievable, even for Trump. Check it out:
During the depths of the mortgage meltdown, his company OneWest foreclosed on 36,000 homes, including those of elderly retirees, using robo-signing to turn the company into a “foreclosure machine” while pocketing billions in bailout money.1
He swindled $50 million out of a media company he ran by resigning two months before the company filed for bankruptcy and using his connections to get preferential payouts.2
He made $3.2 million in the Bernie Madoff Ponzi scheme, and avoided having to pay back the victims because his army of lawyers convinced a judge that too much time had passed before he got caught.3
He’s donated more than $120,000 dollars to politicians in both political parties to gain access and influence.4
This nomination is the clearest evidence yet that Trump conned the working-class voters who supported him. And if Senate Democrats don’t fight this nomination, it will only confirm the voter’s belief that both sides are equally corrupt.
We’re launching a website calling out the blatant corruption in Trump’s cabinet and mobilizing hundreds of thousands of people to demand that the Senate call out Trump’s “drain the swamp” lies.
Thanks for standing with us,
Kurt Walters, Rootstrikers

From U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin, Wisconsin:
“In some cases, Republicans’ policies wouldn’t just take us back to pre-President-Obama 2007. They could take us back even further.
By gutting Social Security, they could take us back to 1934 when seniors and the most vulnerable among us frequently fell into poverty once they left the workforce.
By privatizing Medicare, they could take us back to 1964 when seniors struggled to afford necessary health care.
By defunding Planned Parenthood, they could take us back to 1969 when low-income families struggled to afford and access family planning services and preventative health care.
And of course, by repealing the Affordable Care Act they could take us back to 2009 when many Americans were denied health insurance because of pre-existing conditions.”
WHM: It is clearly and undeniably evident that the GOP wants to erase the full legacy of the first Black President not because the policies were bad or ineffective but because he was a “black man in the WHITE House.” He did some great things for the nation and the world and removing them in a blanket approach will hurt you the reader, and myself, dramatically.

Many people feel the Supreme Court is above reproach and is not a political entity and should not be on this list of the 15 power bases that the GOP fully controls. My dad an attorney felt this way (but was dumbfounded with the Bush vs. Gore case). But….
The Bush versus Gore case in 2000 made the SCOTUS irrelevant to the legal system. A case that can “never be cited as precedence” and used the 14th Amendment that is generally accepted as not being a legal strategy since it actually can apply to both sides. They descended from the sacred final arbiter to just another political farce.
[…] any restrictions across the Country, etc. The problem is these NUTS all control ALL THE CARDS (My post) at this point. They argue that the Constitution is to archaic and are not advertising these […]
This GOP Control extends into every facet of life for the bottom 99%:
regulations, textbooks bought, corporate monopolization, the food being sold, telecommunications offered, deficient products sold, etc. The situation is so bad across the nation, state governments, and local governments that it will take a long time to change unless another Republican Great Depression of 1929 happens then will see the 1932 Election FDR change.
We need Campaign Finance Reform, Voting Rights protections, a reversal of Income Inequality, higher wages, Free Education, better and cheaper Health Care. media power dissolution, and better infrastructure but until we can win in 2018, 2020 and have the Democratic Party dominate the 15 power areas of the nation we cannot achieve those goals.
Here is the problem: Republican control even at lower levels (local and state) affects judgeships and redistricting—the education kids get (keeping them ignorant or learning creationism), etc. No Republican ideas lead to anything good for the 99%.
Of the 15 power bases in the USA, the GOP controls all 15 and is on the verge of dictatorship and suspending elections altogether: https://williamhenrymee.wordpress.com/2016/11/20/the-way-forward-is-backwards/
Any vote for any Republican is an endorsement of the Trump Tribe of Russian Agents. One cannot express it any more delicately or precisely. A GOP Governor will have influence on Redistricting in the 2020 Census and will lead to more Gerrymandering to maintain Republican power. The goals of the Trump Tribe are to take away everything you the reader have: Social Security and Medicare, National Parks and BLM land, Post Office, Health Care, high paying jobs, low cost fossil fuels, alternative energy, voting rights, and general civil rights. If it is an asset it will be sold to the highest bidder that kisses the ring of the fearless leader. Thinking and caring people have no choice but to support the Democratic Party for even dog catcher.
